WELCOME!

The Humane Society of Monroe County is dedicate to the promotion of animal welfare in our community.  To improve the welfare of our fellow creatures we encourage the responsible ownership of pets through spay/neutering, humane care and proper education.  We are a non-profit 501(c)3 organization. We get no funding through county, state or federal entities.  We exist only on donations, community and business support and grant funding.

It is our goal to reduce the number of unwanted pets through spaying and neutering so that all pets born are wanted and have the homes that they so deserve.  In the past six years we have spayed and neutered over 5000 animals in the way of spay and neuter clinics, grant monies and vouchers.

  • Our shelter is located at 41383 Stonehouse Road, Woodsfield, Ohio 43793.  Phone number is 740-934-2693. We need volunteers for the shelter to help care for the pets there.  Check out our wish list and if you can help in any way, please call the shelter and if no one is there please leave a message and one of the volunteer members will call you back.

We now have a memorial garden to remember the many pets who have crossed our paths in the past, present, and future.  We welcome flowers being planted in memory of our lost family pets.  We have also added an information board located outside the shelter.  This will be utilized to advertise the dogs at the shelter, future fundraisers and events, and general information.  Our outside kennels have concrete floors as well as a roof.  Most of the pets can run free in the run area during the day to get their much needed exercise.   Please stop by the shelter and see all of the improvements that the volunteer members have made.

Our pets give much to us, unconditional love, understanding, friendship, loyalty.  They in turn ask for so very little.  So let us nightly dedicate ourselves to the promotion of their welfare and let us rise each morning and do it again.  It can be something as great as testifying against a neighbor in an animal abuse case or something as simple as a kind word to a lonely dog.  If we do these things a thousand silent voices will thank us and our reward will be unmeasureable.

ABANDONED AND NEGLECTED PETS FROM ALL WALKS OF LIFE NEED YOUR HELP TODAY!

We are making a difference, please join us.
