HAPPILY EVER AFTER Droopy finally found his forever home. We get many updates on
him, and his family sends us a lot of pictures telling us how much
they love Droopy!! Shady was with us for over 2 years. One very special day, a
couple just happened to be visiting from Georgia, and passed by our
shelter. One thing led to another, and long story short, Shady
became a Georgia Peach! She has a wonderful home, where she has tea
parties and wears a cowboy hat. Congrats Shady, you deserve
this! Fionna was adopted by one of our volunteers family members,
she also was with us for a very long time, and now has a wonderful,
happy home with her brother, Gannon. Gannon was also here, and they
were reunited together at their new home!
___________________________________________________________________ We are pleased to let everyone know that Rosie has been placed
in a forever home. Three of Frannies puppies have also been placed in new
homes. More great news, Darla has been placed a new loving
home. We are so happy for her to get the loving home she has been wanting and
wishing for. | So often we forget that there are happy endings. We are so
obsessed with the pain that we see and the sad stories that we
hear, that we forget that our adopted pets do go to loving
homes. So here are a few of these success stories, with many
more to come, where pets do
live happily ever after. |
| Goldie came to the shelter from a neglected situation.
We all knew right away that she was special. She definitely
had her own style and personality. She stayed at the shelter
quite a while until one of the shelter volunteers opened their home
to her. | | | Here I am at the shelter, scared, confused and just wanting
loved. | Here I am in my new loving and forever home. I get all the
love and snuggling a cat could ask for! |
I adopted Budie from your shelter in February 2003. He
was under the care of the late Dr. Claugus. He is an
exceptionally loving and gentle black lab and gets along just fine
on his three legs. He loves all people. I have two
large fenced in areas for him to romp and play, but he really wants
to stay with me and loves to be petted and hugged 24/7. Thank
you for rescuing him and I'm so lucky and proud to be his
caretaker. God was so good to me in bringing this beautiful
animal into my life.
| Hugs to all the animals in your care. | Sincerely,
Winifred Palkovic and Budie |
Bailey. | Bailey was surrendered to us in August 2003. He was matted
so badly that he had to be shaved and had a horrible ear infection
that had bubbled out & burned his neck. After being
adopted by the Wykoff's he is once again a happy & beautiful
cocker spaniel. | | | Bailey August 2003 | Bailey December 2003 |
Chase. | Chase was turned into Monroe County's Dog Pound in May
2003. He was a little tough guy that had a big attitude in a
little body, a typical Jack Russell. The Humane Society
removed him from the pound to find him a good home. After one
unsucessful placement his foster family decided he had come home to
stay. Chase's favorite spot after a long day is a lap or a
chest or whatever, as long as he is with you. | | Chase & Dad January 2004 |
From an adoptive family: | Just a short note to tell you how well Jax is doing.
It has been a quick month since we adopted Jax. He just
turned 1 year old on March 14th. He has totally accepted our
home and our love! We are also pleased that Jax and Annie
(our other Chihuahua) are getting along so well. They play
all the time and genuinely seem to love each other. We
addopted Annie a year ago this past January from the Medina County
SPCA and wanted to add another Chihuaha to our family. As it
turns out, Jax was the perfect choice. Now Jax has a new
home, a new playmate, and a new place in our hearts! Yes,
there are angels among us, we just believe they are in the form of
two beautiful, spirited, loving Chihuahuas! Thank you to
Petfinder and the Humane Society of Monroe County. | P.S. To anyone out there who is looking for
an addition to their family, may we say, PLEASE, PLEASE, make these
shelter animals your first consideration. Even if you
don't find what you want at first, keep going back. We
guarantee you will find the pet that was meant for you. We
certainly did! | Sincerely, Mike, Jodie, Annie and Jax Garst

This is Bo. | .jpg) | What can we say about him that has not already been said. He
came to the humane society badly injured and starving and still
just wanted to be loved. We are happy for Bo as he now has a
loving family to take care of him. Congrats Bo. |
FORD | THIS LETTER WAS RECEIVED FROM AN ADOPTIVE FAMILY THAT ADOPTED A
BOXER FROM US THAT WAS VERY, VERY MALNOURISHED AND
MISTREATED. HE HAS NOW BEEN IN THEIR FAMILY FOR ABOUT 8
MONTHS NOW....... | SORRY BEING SO LONG IN GETTING BACK TO YOU ABOUT
FORD BUT IT’S BEEN A HECTIC SUMMER. HE IS DOING GREAT!! CAN’T TELL
YOU WHAT A SWEETHEART HE IS. HE JUST GETS BETTER EVERY DAY. I THINK
HE KNOWS HE HAS A HOME FOR GOOD AND IS FEELING MORE COMFORTABLE.
FORD HAS SUCH A GREAT PERSONALITY AND GETS ALONG SO WELL WITH OUR
MALE BOXER, RUDY. I WORRIED AT FIRST ABOUT TWO MALES BUT COULDN’T
HAVE ASKED FOR TWO DOGS TO GET ALONG ANY BETTER. FORD IS NOW
STARTING TO PLAY MORE. I THINK AT FIRST HE DIDN’T KNOW HOW TO OR
WASN’T ALLOWED TO PLAY. THE FIRST TIME HE BARKED IT SHOCKED HIM AND
ALSO SHOCKED ME SINCE HE DIDN’T BARK FOR THE FIRST FEW WEEKS. HE
LOOKED AT ME LIKE HE THOUGHT HE WAS GOING TO GET IN TROUBLE. THE
ONLY THING I DID WAS SAY YEAH FORD, YOU CAN BARK!! HE LOVES GOING
OUT TO OUR CABIN IN THE COUNTRY WITH US AND RUNS AND PLAYS AND THEN
GOES AND LAYS ON THE CABIN PORCH WITH RUDY AND TAKES IT EASY. HE
NOW KNOWS HE IS ALLOWED ON OUR FURNITURE. WHEN WE FIRST GOT HIM WE
LIFTED HIM ONTO THE SOFA AND HE LOOKED SCARED TO DEATH. HE JUST
WASN’T SURE. NOW HE HAS A CHAIR HE HAS CLAIMED AS HIS OWN. HE ALSO
COMES TO OUR BUSINESS EVERYDAY WITH US. FROM DAY ONE HE WAS WELL
MANNERED AND ALWAYS GOOD WITH EVERYONE THAT COMES IN. ANOTHER BIT
OF GOOD NEWS: HE NOW WEIGHS 79LBS. QUITE A DIFFERENCE FROM 42LBS
WHEN HE WAS RESCUED. HE LOOKS GREAT. HOW ANYONE COULD HAVE MISUSED
SUCH A PUREHEART I WILL NEVER KNOW. I THINK ABOUT THAT EVERYDAY. HE
WILL NEVER HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT BEING MISUSED OR HUNGER FOR FOOD OR
THIRST FOR WATER EVERY AGAIN IN HIS LIFE AND THAT MAKES ME FEEL SO
GOOD TO THINK THAT HE NOW KNOWS THAT. WE LOVE HIM DEARLY AND ARE SO
THANKFUL EVERYDAY THAT HE IS WITH US. THANK YOU.
